Ralph News, baby!
KEVIN QUAIN JOINS BONGO BEAT FAMILY

Jan. 21st, 2010

If you live in Toronto, you are well aware of Kevin Quain's legendary Mad Bastards cabaret every Sunday night at The Cameron House on Queen St W.

Pending a more official announcement, we are proud to welcome one of our favourite songwriters to the Bongo Beat family. Kevin is also an award wining playwright (Dora Mavor Moore Award for "Outstanding New Musical"), producer, and multi-instrumentalist.

Equal parts Waits, Bukowski, Kerouac, Weimar Cabaret and Hoagy Carmichael; Kevin Quain is an elusive embodiment of whiskey soaked jazz played and sung in smoke-filled saloons and brothels. Seriously. Look here:

Kevin and Bongo Beat head Ralph Alfonso have a friendship that spans over 10 years (Kevin plays keyboards on Ralph's "Goodbye Jack Kerouac" and Ralph designed Kevin's second album) and various collaborations.

"I've always said Bongo Beat is the perfect place for Kevin and finally, Kevin has come home" says Ralph.

Bongo Beat will be re-releasing Kevin's two indie cds (Hangover Honeymoon, Tequila Vampire Matinee) in addition to the official release of the new album, Winter In babylon.

Currently, two Kevin Quain albums are finally available on iTunes:

Hangover Honeymoon
