Franco Proietti Morph-tet to Record Live Album at Centre St Ambroise, Sept 25-26
The Franco Proietti Morph-tet hits the Centre St Ambroise for two consecutive nights, Sept. 25th and 26th. Not only does this mark a happy return to their favourite venue, but also a milestone in Morph-tet history as these evenings will be recorded for a new CD on Bongo Beat Records called “Live At Centre St. Ambroise”. Come take part in the recording process, and hear two brand new Morph-tet songs!
On the 25th, The Sharpie Chamber Ensemble opens the evening, and on the 26th, One More For The Road (a Billie Holiday tribute) will warm up the audience before the Morph-tet hits the stage. Both evenings promise to be memorable and full of great music - and given the Morph-tet's penchant for hot performances, the CD should be killer.
Franco Proietti is the founder of the influential Montreal acid jazz collective, Kobayashi (also on Bongo Beat), and started the Morph-tet when Kobayashi came to a halt. The Franco Proietti Morph-tet debut album, "Morphology" was included in the first round of nominations for the 2009 Grammy category for Best Contemporary Jazz Album.
Centre St. Ambroise, 5080 St Ambroise street. $7 admission or $10 for both nights
