Treat Me Like Dirt - Jan 9 - Book Update! |
Jan. 9th, 2010 |
Jan 9 Update:
Treat Me Like Dirt: An Oral History Of Punk In Toronto And Beyond
There is a lot going on so here we go:
We are into a SECOND printing! This is due to the overwhelming orders from retail stores, savvy fans who took advantage of our advance mail order deal and the cool folks who snapped up fresh-from-the-printer copies at the Toronto Small Press Book Fair.
In Canada, the book will be available at Vinyl Diner, Encore Records, Into The Music, Soundscapes, Dr Disc Hamilton, Sunrise (chain), Sonic Boom, HMV (chain), and This Ain't The Rosedale Library.
More to follow (including Amazon & Chapters).
In the USA, best bet is Amazon.com until we get a list of retailers carrying the book.
In the UK and Germany, the book will be released sometime in February - we'll keep you posted soon as we have more details. In the meantime, our weak Canadian dollar means you can order the book from us (shipped Air Mail only) for almost 40% off the listed price!
Author Liz Worth is being kept busy with interviews and stuff including: Toronto Star, CFRB Rock Talk, Hamilton Spectator, eyeweekly, Globe&Mail, CIUT, Now, Chartattack.com, CBC Radio 3, Exclaim and lots more. Keep track here: http://www.lizworth.com/news.html
Two BIG events happening this month are:
Monday, Jan 18, Gladstone Hotel, Toronto
Liz Worth will be interviewed on stage by Damian Abraham (Pink Eyes) of Fucked Up as part of This Is Not A Reading Series. Special musical guests will include Chris Houston (Forgotten Rebels) and Gord Lewis (Teenage Head). Admission is $5 but admission is free with the purchase of a book.

Wed, Jan 20, This Ain't Hollywood, Hamilton
DR. DISC Hamilton presents Liz Worth for the official Hamilton book launch. She will be signing books and hanging out. Expect a LOT of the Hamilton musicians interviewed for the book to make an appearance. Afterwards, The Gord Lewis Songbook will rock the house as guest vocalists shake with the best of the Gord Lewis catalog (from Teenage Head and beyond). Visit DR DISC in Hamilton and enter the raffle to win a copy of Treat Me Like Dirt.
Future events will include appearances in London, Montreal, and special events at Soundscapes Toronto and This Ain't The Rosedale Library.

NERD NOTES:
- The second printing will indeed say "2nd Printing"
- About 100 copies of the first printing came with page 325 as a separate flyleaf due to a ONE IN A MILLION glitch at the printers. We are mentioning it here as a means to authenticate that these are now indeed collector's items and only approx 100 exist.
- The duo on the cover are Don Pyle (also the photographer) and the mysterious Virlana. It was photographed at the Carlton laundromat at Parliament many many years ago. Don Pyle's own book of fantastic 1977-era punk pix, Trouble in The Camera Club, will be coming soon from ECW Press. You can order prints here: http://www.donpyle.com/titcc_pages/titcc3.html
- For stores:
In Canada, the book is distributed by Outside Music, Toronto.
In the USA, the book is distributed by Burnside Distribution, Portland.
In the UK; Proper Music Distribution.
In Germany, New Music Distribution.
For bookstores and indie stores that do not have accounts with the above, we can work something out if you are in Toronto and Montreal. Everywhere else, we can offer trade pricing but it is a one-way sale.
Ask your one-stop suppliers first - they probably have an account with one of our distributors.
This is an expensive book to make. The printing bill is insane so please be cool and not make it complicated for us. We will love you lots.
I think that's all for now..... more soon
