Bongo Beat - the label - goes on tour! |
Sep. 24th, 2010 |
2010 Bongo Beat Tour! Bringing Our Music to the People!
Bongo Beat Records is on tour!
We are taking our music, books, shirts and deals all over Quebec and Ontario over the next 3 months, bringing our music directly to the people. Bongo Beat will have a booth at various Record Shows and Book Fairs with label owner Ralph Alfonso at each event to man the table, meet old friends and introduce music fans to great music on the Bongo Beat label, in addition to Bongo Beat Books and our best-selling book (now in its third printing): Treat Me Like Dirt by Liz Worth, An Oral History of Toronto Punk and Beyond 1977-1981.
Free Bongo Beat cds will be given away at each event while supplies last.
"This is a great opportunity for me to meet fellow music and zine nerds and answer questions directly and explain what Bongo Beat is about, " says Ralph. "At the same time, you never know who will drop by and I know a lot of folks used to enjoy my poetry zine and my live appearances so this is another way to re-connect until I get a new album out and get back into touring musically full on. I had such a blast last fall, that I am doing it again and expanding our dates even more! It's great to talk music and connect directly."
Here is the full Bongo Beat Tour itinerary. Come say hello to Ralph, buy cool music, chat about beatniks, punk 77, comics, Gestetner machines (hey, we also need ink & supplies), The Diodes, the label, and whatever. We will update this list as more shows come up.
NOTE: We've put in some dates where Ralph is actually performing - either reading his beat poetry or performing his garage rock jazz.
