May. 27th, 2005 Vancouver, BC |
Bongo Beat Records Celebrates 10 Years! Bongo Beat celebrates 10 years with 3 showcases in Hamilton and Toronto! Dedicated to new sounds and visions, the label was originally created to showcase label-guru Ralph Alfonso’s beatnik jazz-garage Ralph rock combo. Alfonso is a seasoned industry veteran and renaissance man: x-Diodes manager, Warner, EMI, Attic, Nettwerk, designer, writer, performer, etc. “We operate under the radar a lot of the time, and the sheer scope of the catalog plus our distribution deals in Canada, USA, UK, Spain and Italy can come as a bit of a surprise when people realize the scope of what we’re up to. It still surprises me!” During the last 10 years, Bongo Beat has released discs by international renowned artists such as Kimberley Rew, Katrina And The Waves, Paul Hyde, Johnny Dowd, Ann Mortifee, Joe Mannix , Anton Barbeau with The Bevis Frond, and former Barenaked Ladies’ Andy Creeggan. Now 10 years later, and an impressive catalogue of incredible sounds, Bongo Beat will usher in the next generation of great music.
